Bacon Wrapped Dates

Hi Everyone

This appetizer is one of the ones most asked for – and it is ridiculously easy, can be prepped and frozen and then just pop them in the oven when you need them!!

Bacon Wrapped Dates

  • Yield: Depends on how many you make
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 - 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • Medjool Dates - figure 2-3 dates per person when determining the number of dates to prepare.
  • Roasted almonds – 1 per date
  • Bacon – 1/3 slice for each date you prepare
  • Barbecue sauce – ½ cup for every 12 dates. I add honey mustard – ½ tsp for every ½ cup sauce.
  • Feta or blue cheese – your choice – to sprinkle on top.

Instructions

  1. Slit each date and remove seed. Leave the rest of the date intact
insert a roasted almond into each date.
Wrap each date with 1/3 slice bacon. Secure with a toothpick if needed.

  2. The dates are now ready to bake (told you it was simple!) You can refrigerate until ½ hour before you want to serve. You can also freeze at this point to use when needed.

  3. Preheat oven to 375
Line a cookie sheet with tin foil and put cookie warming racks on top of the tinfoil.
Place the wrapped dates on the rack(s) on the cookie sheet
Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until the bacon crisps to your preference

  4. While the dates are baking, mix the barbecue sauce and mustard in a small saucepan and warm to a simmer.
When the dates are done, place in your serving dish and pour the barbecue sauce over the top.
Sprinkle as desired with crumbled cheese.

Notes

This is so easy it’s shameful compared to how much people love these
Yum Yum Yum – I need these now.
